Some important news for Barca vs Real Madrid :
Barca's Chilean striker Alexis  Sanchez is expected to recover from a knock to his thigh and be available, while defender Gerard Pique could return to the defence after sitting out the Champions League semi-final first leg defeat to Chelsea. Real Madrid have a strong squad to choose from. Xabi Alonso is available from a one-match domestic ban, but longer term absentees are likely to remain absent. Ricardo Carvalho has a thigh problem and Lassana Diarra is unlikely to return from his hamstring problem.

Barcelona are unbeaten in seven league games against Real Madrid (W6 D1), their best-ever run against the merengues. Guardiola’s Barcelona have won six league games against Madrid, their most against any team is seven (Sporting, Racing, Málaga). The azulgrana have won their last three league matches at home to Real Madrid, scoring eight goals and conceding none.

In three matches at home to sides from Madrid in the league this season Barcelona have bagged 13 goals and conceded none. The blancos have failed to score on their last three league visits to the Camp Nou (L3), only three times before in their history have they not found the net in four in a row (six vs Barcelona, and four vs Valencia and Depor).

Since its 1957 inauguration, Real Madrid have won more league matches at the Camp Nou than any other side (11, Atlético 10). Barcelona have won 11 consecutive league matches (33 goals scored and eight conceded); only two sides have ever managed as many in a row in Primera: Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid are unbeaten in 18 league games (W15 D3), their longest run in a single season since 96/97 (24). After Bayern (six), Barcelona have conceded the fewest goals at home of all sides in Europe’s top five leagues (eight). Mourinho’s side are the highest-scoring away side in Europe’s top-five leagues this season (44, a club record, and eight more than Man Utd this season). Leo Messi has scored in 10 consecutive league games, no Barcelona player has ever scored in 11 in a row.

Sergio Ramos has seen more cards in games against Barcelona (seven yellows, one red) than any other side in the league. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 20 away goals in the league this season, beating Dani Güiza’s 19 with Mallorca in 2007/08.
